Hexagon problem

Hexagon dimensions

Find the surface area, base area, perimeter of base and volume of Hexagonal Prism whose apothem length 3cm, side 4cm and height 6cm.

Solution:

Given:

Apothem length (a) = 3cm

Side(s) =4cm

Height (h) =6cm.

Perimeter of base:

Perimeter of base (p) = 6s

= 6 x 4

=24 cm

Base area:

Base area (A) = 3as

= 3 x 3 x 4

= 36 cm2

Surface area:

Surface area = 6as + Ph

= 6 x 3 x 4 + 24 x 6

=72 + 144

= 216 cm2

Volume:

Volume (v) = Ah

= 36 x 6

= 216 cm3
